RESUME :
Dans les Aires Protégées de Dzanga Sangha, l’accès et le mode d’utilisation des terres agricoles sont déterminés par les droits coutumiers. C’est un mode d’appropriation du sol qui est traditionnel. Cette pratique ancestrale d’appropriation du sol demeure dominante dans les Aires Protégées de Dzanga Sangha. La majorité des exploitations agricoles relève du régime foncier coutumier dont le principe de base est celui du « droit de la hache » selon lequel la terre appartient à celui qui la défriche et la cultive. Cependant, dans la zone périurbaine de Bayanga, les modes traditionnels d’accès à la terre agricole laissent la place à la marchandisation des terres qui s’accélère sous la pression démographique et très souvent pour des raisons économiques et sociales, notamment la paupérisation des populations, avec des conséquences sur le devenir de l’espace agricole puisque plus de la moitié de nouveaux propriétaires sont dans une logique de transformation de la terre agricole en parcelle d’habitation à court, moyen et long termes. Ce qui les pousse à défricher une grande superficie de forêt pour les cultures afin de la transformer en terrain d’habitat ou pour la vente aux nouveaux acquéreurs et cela constitue une menace imminente pour le Parc National de Dzanga si rien n’est fait pour l’arrêter.

THE BURNT AGRICULTURE DEVOURS THE FORESTS CLOSE TO THE DZANGA SANGHA NATIONAL PARK
ABSTRACT
In the Dzanga Sangha Protected Areas, access to and use of agricultural land are determined by customary rights. This is a traditional way of appropriating land. This ancestral practice of land appropriation remains dominant in the Dzanga Sangha Protected Areas. The majority of farms come under the customary land tenure system, the basic principle of which is that of the “right of the axe”, according to which the land belongs to the person who clears and cultivates it. However, in the peri-urban area of Bayanga, the traditional methods of access to agricultural land are giving way to the commodification of land, which is accelerating under demographic pressure and very often for economic and social reasons, particularly the impoverishment of the population, with consequences for the future of agricultural land, since more than half of the new owners are looking to transform agricultural land into housing plots in the short, medium and long term. This is leading them to open up larges areas of forest for cultivation in order to transform it into housing land or for sale to new buyers, and this constitutes an imminent threat to the Dzanga National Park if nothing is done to stop it.
