RESUME :
Il est difficile de disjoindre l’histoire moderne de la République Centrafricaine de la vie de son président fondateur Barthélémy Boganda. En effet, en dépit des aléas politiques passés et récents, les Centrafricains, sans distinction, continuent d’honorer sa mémoire. Il était aussi le premier intellectuel oubanguien.
Cet article est une contribution à la compréhension de la pensée de Boganda. Il vise à montrer que Boganda avait reconnu avoir « puisé dans les auteurs latins et français des idées plus humanistes et libérales que celles que lui avaient inculquées les pères [catholiques] » mais avait aussi enrichi ses idées politiques et sociales au contact de l’islam ayant des adeptes en Oubangui depuis le XIX e siècle. Cette réalité avait jusque-là été occultée voire méprisée empêchant d’appréhender la plénitude de sa pensée et des symboles qu’il avait légués à la République Centrafricaine et à l’Afrique entière. Il permet d’expliquer la profonde aversion de Boganda à l’égard du communisme d’une part et, d’autre part, d’appréhender la portée philosophique et morale de sa vision politique. Enfin, il s’agit de restaurer la mémoire et l’histoire afin de faire échec à l’obscurantisme et la haine qui gangrènent le développement du continent et aussi de notre pays.

The contribution of monotheists religions at Barthelemy Boganda’s political and social thought
ABSTRACT
The modern history of the Central African Republic is inseparable from the life of Barthélémy Boganda, the first Ubangi priest, deputy for Ubangi in the French National Assembly, mayor of Bangui, president of the Grand Council of French Equatorial Africa, president of the government of the Central African Republic and member of the Community’s Executive Council, who died in an airplane accident on 29 March 1959. He was also the first Ubangi intellectual whom President Dacko considered the “Master” of all the men and women of his generation.
This article is a modest contribution to the understanding of Boganda’s thought. It aims to show that Boganda recognised that he had ‘drawn on Latin and French authors for more humanist and liberal ideas than those instilled in him by his fathers’, but that he had also enriched his political and social ideas through contact with Islam, which had followers in Ubangi since the 19th century. This reality had until then been obscured or even despised, preventing the fullness of his thought and the symbols he had bequeathed to the Central African Republic and the whole of Africa from being understood. Furthermore, it allows us to explain Boganda’s deep aversion to communism on the one hand and on the other to understand the philosophical and moral significance of his famous political vision. Finally, it is a question of restoring memory and history in order to counteract the obscurantism and hatred that plague the development of the continent and also of our country. I owe a lot to Senator Ngounion Etienne and his wife, who adopted me as their son, and especially to President Dacko, whom I met regularly after the death of Professor Blagué. They instilled in me a love of Boganda and our country.
