Résumé : Cet article se propose d’analyser les facteurs justificatifs de la vulnérabilité sociale à travers les maladies mentales causés par les conséquences et effets des violences criminelles dont les populations civiles ont été victimes pendant les crises militaro-politiques dans les milieux ruraux en République Centrafricaine. Les enquêtes réalisées dans ces deux localités, reposaient sur une démarche ethnographique fondée l’observation directe des comportements des malades plus ou moins guéris et des attitudes des parents et membres de la communauté par rapport à cette maladie. Des entretiens individuels et de groupe ont également été réalisés avec les responsables des formations sanitaires et les leaders communautaires et ont permis de saisir les dynamiques sociétales rattachées à la prise en charge des patients. Les résultats des enquêtes soulignent que la maladie mentale en contexte post-conflit en Centrafrique reste un puissant facteur de vulnérabilité sociale. L’appui psychosocial présente beaucoup de faiblesse à cause de l’inefficacité du programme de santé mentale dans le pays.

Abstract : This article aims to analyze the factors contributing to social vulnerability through mental illnesses resulting from the consequences and effects of criminal violence suffered by civilian populations during the military-political crises in rural areas of the Central African Republic. The investigations conducted in these two localities were based on an ethnographic approach grounded in the direct observation of the behavior of patients, both those who had recovered and those who were more or less cured, as well as the attitudes of relatives and community members toward this illness. Individual and group interviews were also conducted with health facility managers and community leaders, providing insight into the societal dynamics related to patient care. The survey results highlight that mental illness in the post-conflict context of the Central African Republic remains a significant factor in social vulnerability. Psychosocial support is very weak due to the ineffectiveness of the mental health program in the country.
